About Us

The NCCU Center for Buddhist Philosophy devotes itself to promoting the study of Buddhist philosophy, to providing a hub for Buddhist scholars, to producing excellent scholarly works on Buddhist Philosophy, and to reviving scholars’ interests in Sino-Indian Buddhist sources. The study of Buddhist philosophy has a long tradition at NCCU, tracing all the way back to the eminent scholars Chen Daqi (1886-1983), a leading scholar in Buddhist logic. For the past years, the study of Buddhist philosophy has flourished again owing to the continuing fundings for several research projects. The strength of the current faculty lies in utilizing Sino-Indian sources to contribute to the study of Buddhist philosophy. We fully believe that the whole community of scholars in Buddhist philosophy will greatly benefit if more refined studies in Chinese Buddhist philosophical texts can be produced. It is therefore our mission to revive the interests in the studies of Sino-Indian Buddhist sources.
